Happy New Year Jan. 2, 2017

NAME: TEACHER:

Problem of the Week (Jan. 2, 2017)
Happy New Year
Directions: Write your work on a separate sheet of paper. Label the paper with your FULL name, your teacher, and which problem(s) you are handing in, then staple it to this sheet.

SHOW ALL YOUR WORK

Level 1: Happy New Year: Count the number of letters in each word found in Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. Show we some easy ways to add up the total number of letters. Think about how to regroup into sets of ten or other ways to make the addition easier to do in your head. Show or explain what you did.

Level 2: Years: Take the year you were born and subtract it from 2017. Now ask a parent what year they were born and subtract it from 2017. What does this subtraction problem tell you about each person’s age?
Level 3: Calendars: Write down the date and day of the week you are doing this problem. Now tell me what will be the date and day of the week in 35 days.

Welcome back! And Happy New Year!
